At the April 30 membership meeting the following members accepted nomination for the following positions. You will be able to vote for your preferred candidate on Election Day, May 27 between 7am and 7:30pm in accordance with your local bylaws.
Voting Time: May 27 between 7am and 7:30pm
Voting Method: In-person secret ballot
Voting Locations:
- Main Site: Room B1465, near 1 West and Human Resources (all members, except those whose primary work location is the RCC, must vote here). Click here to see a map with the room’s location.
- RCC: 1st Level (Basement) Classroom (only members whose primary work location is the RCC may vote at the RCC). Click here to see images to help you find the voting location.
Voting Requirements:
- Identification: show your work ID, or government issued photo ID, to confirm your identity before voting.
- Record of having applied to be a Member-In-Good-Standing (MIGS) (more details below). There will be Member Applications Forms available at the voting location on Election Day. If the Elections Clerks do not have a record of you already having filled one out they will require you to fill one out before voting. It takes about 1 to 2 minutes to fill out the application. Blank forms are available for download at the link above, and printed forms are available at the Union Board and Union Office. Contact a steward or 3651elections@gmail.com if you need help accessing a form.
To be eligible to vote on May 27 you must sign and submit a Member in Good Standing application. Click here to do so now
To be eligible to vote you must be a member in good standing. Typically that means you have submitted a membership application, and your application has been approved by a vote at a membership meeting (see B.8.1 and B.8.2 of the CUPE Constitution).
However, at my request, given the uneven historical practice and record keeping regarding member-in-good-standing status, the National President of CUPE has approved a one-time special dispensation for your local for this Election only: Members who have completed a Member in Good Standing application are able to run and vote in the May 27th election without first having their application accepted at a membership meeting.
This dispensation is provided on a one-time and exceptional basis with the understanding that the applications will all be submitted for acceptance at the first membership meeting after the election. For all future elections candidates and voters must be members-in-good standing in accordance with the Constitution, and have been accepted into membership by a vote at a membership meeting.
